Thanks for the economics text recommendations in your last letter Jerry, surely they would cure insomnia, but I doubt either Sherrie or I will rush to the library for copies. While your selections would no doubt support your convictions, an equal number of economists could easily be found to pontificate to the contrary. Your belief in borrowing as a means to solve debt problems seems akin to drinking as a way out of alcoholism.
Apologies to you, Jerry…my previous letter held no intent to make light of your noble profession. In fact, your trade will reach new stature when the increased cost of living due to government debt may force us all to look to bicycles as our only affordable means of transportation. BTW…I love your use of text message shortcuts…typically WT? comes to mind when I read your letters.
And yes, I will keep that aspirin bottle handy this election cycle. I’ve found medication useful during the past several administrations while watching the national debt limit continuously rise in an attempt to bring better economic times through deficit spending.
Speaking of a need for medication…I happened across a letter Mr. Hiniker had recently submitted to a Twin Cities newspaper venting another of his frustrations:
“I’m getting tired of the comic strip Mark Trail. I’ve tolerated it in the past because of its camp style, but its continued inaccuracies in the portrayal of wildlife has become offensive.” (It is) “distressing to see the bear pictured as an essentially domesticated beast. Lastly, the strip is trite, predictable, and worn out.”
It’s surprising Hiniker has not yet taken News-Herald cartoonist “Carson” to the mat for his humorous anthropomorphic depictions of our local wildlife.
I suspect Editor Rhonda Silence, along with much of the News-Herald readership, has grown tired of our bickering…so, keep those spokes tight, Jerry…it been too long of a ride for me.
