The Cook County Ridge Riders held the first snowmobile drag races of the year on Devil Track Lake on Saturday, January 21. Racing began at noon and despite cold weather and wind on the lake, a number of racers came out to compete. Prizes were awarded to the first and second place finishers in four snowmobile size classes—600cc, 700cc, 800cc and Open, which is open to snowmobiles of any horsepower.

The Ridge Riders will hold two more snowmobile drag races this year, so mark your calendars for exciting rematches. The next races will be Saturday, February 18 on Hungry Jack Lake. Before that however, is the very popular Cook County Ridge Riders “Fun Run” on Saturday, February 4, with a poker run ride that starts at Devil Track Landing and travels to Trail Center, Hungry Jack Lodge, Gunflint Lodge and Gunflint Pines. High poker hand earns $500 and low poker hand wins $200. Have lunch where you choose and head back to Devil Track Landing for music with Timmy Haus, food and drink specials and over $1,000 in cash and prizes.
