Rick Anderson, owner of Sweetgrass Cove Guesthouse and Bodywork Studio, has passed the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork exam and is now nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage.
The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) is an independent, private, non-profit organization established to set high standards of ethics and professional practice through a recognized credentialing program. The organization’s mission is to define and advance the highest standards in the Massage Therapy and Bodywork profession.
To be eligible for the NCBTMB certification, Rick had to present a portfolio for review, which entailed the accumulation and documentation of 850 hours of practice and training over the course of 10 years. With the assistance of Cook County Higher Education through both Hibbing Community College and Duluth Business University, Rick was able to pursue collegiate level anatomy and physiology, kinesiology and pathology courses to achieve eligibility.
“I am grateful to Higher Ed for their assistance in making this opportunity possible. This credential offers me not only a sense of accomplishment, but enhances my credibility as a Massage Therapist working both from Sweetgrass Cove Guesthouse and Bodywork Studio, my business of 10 years, and at the Wellness Center of the Grand Portage Community Clinic.”
