Richard (Dick) Lee, 89, went home to be with his Savior on December 5 with family at his bedside. He was joyfully reunited with his wife, Betty, who went home with the Lord 25 years ago.
He was born in Gettysburg, South Dakota, and lived in many states before retiring to his and Betty’s dream home in Grand Marais. The last years of his life were spent in Tennessee near his daughter, a wonderful blessing for both. He served in the Navy during the Korean War; graduated from Purdue to work as design engineer at International Harvester, was a Lion for many years and delivered meals-on-wheels with Betty. The real love of his life was spending time with family and friends. He spent many a morning at Blue Water Cafe chatting with his close friend, Jim Lawson, and greeting other friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his son Rick Lee, his parents Virgil and Anna Lee, his sisters June Puchovich (George) and Jean Henningfield (Glen). Surviving are his son David Lee and fiancée Suzanne; daughter Linda Lewis (Ron); brother Verne Lee (Ivy); sister Virginia Evon (Michael); grandchildren Tesha Mack (Kevin); Michelle Long (Frank); Jacob Lee (Lena); Angela Scott (Jordan); and Adam Lee. Eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dad sure enjoyed Karson’s visits and holding Gunner.
A memorial service is being planned for this summer.
