Grand Marais Public Library presents two events to inspire creativity and community belonging during the winter months. On Wednesday, February 12 at 3:30 p.m., Mary Mulari presents Recycle, Repurpose, and Restyle, a talk chock-full of tips and techniques for repurposing textiles. Then, on Tuesday, February 18 at 1:00 p.m., join Illusion Theatre for a presentation of The Pink Unicorn.
In Recycle, Repurpose, and Restyle, Mulari shares her laundering and whitening tips and how, with basic sewing skills or fabric glue, to create special gifts with priceless memories attached. This hour-long program is especially for young to mature adults and anyone interested in reusing household textiles. It is sponsored by Arrowhead Library System and funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
The Pink Unicorn is an award-winning solo performance written by Elise Forier Edie and directed by Michael Robins. Ivey Award-winning Kate Guentzel plays Trisha, a Christian widow, who must choose sides in her conservative Texas town after her teenage daughter announces she is “gender queer” and starts a chapter of the Gay Straight Alliance at the local high school. With sharp wit and humor, this rich and poetic story explores what it means to be a parent and a community in these changing times.
Grand Marais Public Library increases knowledge, inspires creativity, removes barriers, and builds community across Cook County. Our events are free and open to the public. For more information.
