Cook County Higher Education has received a Tech Squad project grant from Northland Foundation. The goal is to create a thriving Tech Squad industry in the community, and you can be a part of making that a reality. Working with the local Radio Shack, CCHE will be providing high school students with training, after-school and summer activities, and entrepreneurial experience to assist community members with new technology.
Training for the Tech Squad participants begins the week of June 20, and may include the following, depending on your areas of interest: . Customer Service – learning how to respond to customer needs and questions with patience, interest, and respect . Marketing – learning how to communicate product information . Entrepreneurship – starting a businesses, writing a business plan . Evaluation – learn how to become more effective through evaluation and assessment
Tech Squad participants will be paid as independent contractors at $8 per hour. Work is part-time and somewhat flexible. Participants will be paid for the training hours. There is potential for certification and CEUs depending on your interest areas.
Tech Squad members should be high school age (minimum 14 years) through college age (maximum 23). The goal is to create a thriving Tech Squad industry in the community, and you can be a part of making that a reality.
Once you have received training, you will be ready for the first public Tech Squad services events, which will be held at Radio Shack and will feature cell phone and smart phone use at these first events.
