Minnesota Republican candidate for governor Dr. Scott Jensen will be in Grand Marais at the HUB (senior center) on Sunday, August 14th from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. to meet the public.
Dr. Jensen was a member of the Minnesota Senate from 2017 to 2021. He has served as a professor at the University Medical school and has had a small family medical practice in Watertown, Minnesota. In 2016 Jensen was selected Minnesota Family Physician of the Year.
The 67-year physician was born and raised in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1973. Politically, he is a conservative. A thumbnail sketch of his beliefs are that he calls for less taxation, less government spending, a tougher stance on crime; he is for affordable healthcare, protecting the 2nd amendment, is anti-abortion, wants to restore election integrity, and wants government to make decisions based on science and transparent data. He is also for cannabis reform, advocating for expungement for prior convictions of small amounts of marijuana.
Dr. Jensen earned his M.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1981. He and his wife Mary have three children.
