U.S. Congressman Rick Nolan will be making several stops during a visit to the county on August 4 – 5. Nolan will hold a veterans round table Aug. 4 at the Cook County Senior Center in Grand Marais from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
“With so many urgent issues concerning the VA and veterans across our nation, I urge veterans and their families to join me to share your views and opinions,” said Nolan. “Whether it be about wait times at the VA, unsubstantial benefits, or issues with access to care in rural areas – I want to hear your experience,” Nolan said.
Among the items for discussion will be the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014, the bipartisan bill to reform the VA and improve veterans’ access to and quality of care. This round table is in addition to forums the congressman has held in Duluth, Little Falls, Brainerd, and Hibbing.
Following the forum, Nolan will hold a lunch meeting with local city, county, and economic development officials at the Landing at Devil Track Resort to discuss local initiatives and projects. Representatives from a local airport expansion group have also been invited.
On Tuesday, August 5, the Cook County DFL is hosting a luncheon at Cook County Higher Education from noon to 1 p.m. The public is invited and light refreshments will be served.
