Recommended tax increase not necessary

In case you haven’t noticed, the Cook County board has recommended a 5.6 percent increase in your property tax levy for 2013.

Lake County has proposed zero percent. Pine County has proposed zero percent, which is the fifth year in a row of no tax hikes. Go online to see other counties that have a proposed zero percent tax increase.

Cook County cannot seem to decrease spending. That’s the way out of increased levies.

Call your county commissioners and ask them how they feel about a 5.6 percent property tax increase for you. And ask them how they voted on increasing your property taxes. Maybe it is time to find someone else to do the job of the people.
