Reading colors your world

Summer Reading Program June 16-August 20, 2021

The Grand Marais Public Library launches its Reading Colors Your World summer reading program on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Kids ages zero to 18 can choose between several ways of tracking their reading and learning activities and earning free books and other prizes. All the materials and instructions will be available at the library throughout the summer, so kids can start their chosen program any time. In addition to reading logs, the library will have theme-related activities and special events all summer long, including:

Summer Story Hour at Drury Lane: Each Saturday at 11am the “Muffin Man” (aka Kevin), Youth Services Librarian Erika Ternes, and other community members lead a summertime children’s story hour on the lawn outside Drury Lane books. Check the Drury Lane website at www.drurylanebooks.com or call (218) 387-3370 for more info.

The Wundrous Readers Society: Starting Friday, June 18th, the Wundrous Readers Society meets on the lawn for lemonade, doodling, and reading aloud every Friday from 4-5pm. We’ll be reading the third book in Jessica Town send’s Nevermoor series, Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow. Missed the first two books? Don’t worry! We’ll catch you up as we go, or you can check out the audio or print books from the library. The series is aimed at ages 9-12, but all ages are welcome.

More activities, including take-and-make kits, story strolls, and visits with Aspen the reading dog, are in the works, so keep an eye on the library website (www.grandmaraislibrary.org) and youth services Instagram page (@gmlibraryyouth) for announcements, or call the library at (218) 387-1140 to learn more about our summer reading adventures.
