Mark your calendar for August 23 and get your ticket to see singer/songwriter Ray Bonneville perform at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts (ACA) at 7:30 p.m.

Ray Bonneville’s music is an exquisite gumbo for the soul. A rich stew of Americana, blues, and southern groove cooked up on guitar, harmonica, and vocals that speak the poetry of hard living and deep feeling, Ray’s fare is food for hungry minds and hearts.

Originally from Quebec, where he grew up speaking French, Ray moved to Boston at age 12, learned English, and began studying piano and guitar. After serving in Vietnam, he lived in Alaska, Seattle, Paris, and finally New Orleans, where his musical interest was deeply infused by the regional culture and rhythms. After two decades working as a studio musician and living hard on tour with blues bands, Ray began to write, perform, and record his own music.

Since 1992 Bonneville has released nine albums, earning wide critical acclaim along the way and gaining an enthusiastic following in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. His awards include a Juno (Canadian equivalent of a Grammy), the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge Solo- Duet Award, and the International Folk Alliance’s Song of the Year Award (for his post-Katrina ode “I Am the Big Easy”).

Ray has shared bills with artists including Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Dr. John, J.J. Cale, and Robert Cray. He’s been featured as a guest performer on albums by Eliza Gilkyson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Mary Gauthier, and others. Touring internationally, Ray performs over 100 shows per year, including at South by Southwest, the Folk Alliance, and the Montreal Jazz Festival. When not on tour, he lives in Austin, Texas.

Tickets are $18 for general admission and are for sale in advance at www.tix.com (search “Arrowhead Center for the Arts”); tickets are also sold at the door starting at 6:30 p.m.
