This week youth baseball was dominated by one thing—rain! However, there were a few teams that were able to get their games in. T-ball plays on Monday nights and both June 18 and 25 were sunny and dry. We don’t keep score in T-ball, but every week both teams have fun. In that way everybody wins. We have six teams with over 70 kids running all over the field every Monday night and it’s great to see them improve every week. Thunderbirds host a doubleheader

In Parent Pitch only two teams were able to play before the rain came. The Thunderbirds hosted the Yankees for a double header. Their first game on May 29 was postponed due to rain. Parent Pitch games are normally high scoring affairs, but not this night. Game one was a close 7-4 battle. The difference came from the bats of the Thunderbirds. Linden Magiskan had a great night at the plate leading his team to victory. Not to be outdone, Ian Waltz closed the door on the Yankees and sealed the victory for the Thunderbirds.

Game two was much the same. Once again the Yankees only allowed 7 runs, which is great defense, and would result in a victory most nights. However, the defense of the Thunderbirds was just a little better. The Yankees could only muster 2 runs giving the Thunderbirds their second victory of the night. John Pierre had his best night at the plate so far this season hitting his first double and scoring runs. Trent Spy also remembered his bat reaching base safely many times. All other Parent Pitch games were rained out. Dodgers travel to Silver Bay

Little League has had many games rained out this season. In fact only one game was played last week. The Dodgers traveled to Silver Bay for a double header against two teams from Silver Bay. In game one against the Twins of Silver Bay, Colton Furlong dominated on the mound. He pitched a complete game, giving up one hit with 16 strikeouts.

Colton Furlong had an excellent evening when the Dodgers traveled to Silver Bay for a doubleheader. He dominated on the mound, pitching a complete game with 16 strikeouts. In the second game, he made an inthe park home run to clinch the win.

The Silver Bay Twins’ pitcher also pitched well because the Dodgers only scored 2 runs. Those runs were provided by Linden Bloomberg going 2 – 3 and scoring one run, and Cameron Roy also going 2 – 3 from the plate scoring the other run. Final score was Dodgers 2, Silver Bay Twins 0.

In game two, Pete Sutton pitched very well for the Dodgers. He pitched four scoreless innings striking out 15 batters. The Silver Bay Brewers got to Pete in the 5th inning scoring three runs and forcing him off the mound. Jake Bilben entered the game to close things out for the Dodgers, and he did so in fine fashion, striking out three batters to end the game. The Dodgers won this game at the plate. Linden Bloomberg continued a great night at the plate scoring runs, and Colton Furlong had an in-the-park home run to cap off the Dodgers’ 5 – 3 victory. Come out and watch a game this week—the kids would love to see you there!
