Hello Cook County! My name is Stephanie Williams Radloff and I am asking you to vote for me as a WRITE-IN candidate for School Board Member representing District 4. I believe it is imperative that a parent represent the children in our community more so this year than any year in history because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. At present, there is only one school board member with school-aged children attending ISD District 166. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and why I would be a good choice for School Board Member.

I was born in our own North Shore Hospital when babies could be born there, and raised in Cook County, specifically Grand Marais. I grew up on one of the few family farms in Cook County, in which my parents; David and Cathi Williams have lived for the past 34 years. I am the youngest of five children, all who were raised here in Cook County, and graduated from ISD 166. Myself along with my four siblings still reside here to this day with our spouses and children. Combined with my siblings we will have a total of 13 children in ISD 166 at some point in the future, hopefully!

When I was in high school, I was fortunate to be able to play sports. Among those were Cross Country Skiing, Biathlon, Cross Country Running, Golf, and Basketball. I went to the State Meet for cross country skiing five years in a row and earned 18 varsity letters from 7th to 12th grade. The point I am trying to make is not that I was a good athlete, but the opportunities that abound at CCHS because of our small population. Many youth at large schools do not have the opportunity to compete in one sport much less three per year because there is too much competition. At CCHS, you can make your own success if you work hard enough. The teachers and coaches were great at pushing me to achieve my full potential.

After high school I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and then Anoka Ramsey Community College, where I majored in Business Marketing and Management. After college I moved back to Grand Marais and married my husband Gary. We have 2 school-aged children, Jack and Bristol, who attend Sawtooth Mountain Elementary.

I have been a volunteer Fire Fighter for the Maple Hill Fire Department for 11 years; I volunteer at Bethlehem Lutheran church with youth meals on Wednesday nights and I am a member of the Cook County Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club. I worked for three years as a para-professional in the school back in 2007-2010. I know how to prioritize when it comes to budgets and spending and I take all factors into consideration when making decisions.

At a young age, I was taught respect and responsibility, and that you need to work hard and stand up for the things you believe in. Thus, the reason I am running for the school board as a write-in candidate. I need to fight for my children and my nieces and nephews who not only want to be in school but need the interaction of their peers for their own well-being. The School Board needs a voice for our children and what is in the best interest for them. The damage being done physically and psychologically to our children by being out of school will probably take years to assess.

Please consider writing me in on your ballot for District 4 School Board. Sincerely, Stephanie Radloff
