Racism in school, county need to end

It looks like a family now living here with us is planning to move away after a series of racist incidents involving their young daughters at school. Why, and how did this happen? It’s hard to understand why finally, after so much history, we don’t have a public school for these girls where they can feel safe, valued, and welcomed for who they are. It’s important to look at how we have so badly failed this family so that we can find real ways to provide a good place for EVERY student in Cook County.

Are we living here in a white community as silent partners to a racist element among us? Instead, why not stop now and take a good hard look at how some people have experienced this community and our country? We have to learn, break away from the dysfunctional habits that have so often corrupted our American experience, and muster the character to attack this problem.
