Sometime, or maybe it is most of the time, we don’t realize when and how we touch another’s life.
I’ll admit I was less than enthusiastic about the statuary that was erected in Library Park. Maybe it felt a bit too flashy or too “mod” for my Cook County taste, but I understood and accepted its intent.
Not until a friend commented on how significant it was to her seeing a community being so welcoming to her family that I looked at the statue with new appreciation. You see, she has two children on the autism spectrum and the logo representing autism is a PUZZLE PIECE.
Perhaps it behooves us to look for the good rather than quickly criticizing. Many people come to and through our town…how we welcome them makes a difference.
