Put community center to a vote

First, I want to say I think Vilnis Neilands wrote an excellent letter, as have several others. To the commissioners….what part of no don’t you get?

We do not want a new community center and we cannot afford it. I don’t like stepping on toes that aren’t deserved, but if the commissioners would do their jobs properly, we would not have this fiasco.

You keep hiring outside consultants at the tune of how many dollars by now? Did you ever stop to think what the county could have done with all that money? I am sure all your consultants are laughing all the way to the bank every time you change your plans and places to put it.

At the very least, you could have hired some of our well qualified local builders to do some of this work and kept the money in the county.

One other thing….you keep saying we voted for it. Well, I know I didn’t. I am guessing it must have been thrown in on the vote we did for the broadband. I know a lot of us did vote for that.

But, listening to a lot of people, every day, I have not heard one of them say they voted for the community center. I think, as long as you are into wasting money, we ought to put it to a county vote. Let’s see just how many people want the community center and are willing to put their money where their mouth is. At the kind of fees you are talking right now, a good majority of the working people in this county couldn’t afford it if they did want it.
