The North Shore Management Board will hold a public meeting regarding its ongoing plan update at 6 p.m. June 28 at the Tettegouche State Park Visitor Center, 5702 Highway 61, Silver Bay.
The NSMB Management Plan is a multi-jurisdictional agreement that defines zoning standards to be enforced by all participating entities within the defined shoreland overlay zone along the shore of Lake Superior. These standards define impervious surface limits, building height, wastewater management, among other zoning aspects as well as the primary focus of the NSMB itself. While some revisions to these standards will be addressed at the meeting, the primary focus of the update is to create a more user-friendly version of the document that can be easily accessed online.
The public meeting will give the citizens along the shore, as well as other stakeholders, the chance to review the revisions and new online presentation of the plan, and provide comment. The meeting will include reviewing of the planning process, a summary of the draft document and maps, and opportunities to comment on the plan update.
The NSMB is working with professional planners from the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC) to complete the planning process.
The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission is a regional comprehensive planning and development agency serving the counties of Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis in Northeast Minnesota. ARDC’s mission is to serve the people of the Arrowhead Region by providing local units of government and citizen groups a means to work cooperatively in identifying needs, solving problems and fostering local leadership.
