Public meeting on vaping will take place Sept. 17

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic, Cook County Public Health and Human Services and ISD 166 are collaborating to present a community panel to relay the dangers of commercial tobacco and vaping to the public, with a special focus on the recent rise in youth vaping.

This event includes a presentation from the American Lung Association, media creations from local youth, and a panel discussion about the dangers of commercial tobacco, vaping and addiction, especially on the teenage brain. There will also be information on local efforts to raise the age to purchase commercial tobacco to 21 as a means of addressing the vaping epidemic.

Panelists include professionals from healthcare, education, law enforcement, and the chamber of commerce. This event will take place in the Arrowhead Center for the Arts from 5:30p-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17. There will be a formal program, as well as an opportunity for community members to ask questions.
