The Grand Marais-Cook County Airport Commission has prepared an update to the Airport Master Plan for the Grand Marais-Cook County Airport.
The Master Plan is a long-range plan for development and/ or improvement of the airport. The plan identifies proposed action for the facility including extension of runway 9-27 from 4,199 feet to 5,000 feet; development of a runway safety area for runway 9-27; and development of a taxiway parallel to runway 9-27.
In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, an Environmental Assessment is being prepared to disclose the impacts associated with the implementation of the proposed action. As part of that process, the airport commission will hold a public information meeting in an open house format to provide information about the project, and to hear comments and/or recommendations about which environmental issues the assessment should address.
Themeeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11 at the county airport, located approximately one mile north of Devil Track Lake on Airport Road, and six miles northwest of the city of Grand Marais.
Written comments may also be sent to Leslie Carlson, RS&H, 4525 Airport Approach Road, Duluth, MN 55811.
