If you live in Tofte and have an idea that would help the community become a better place to live, now is your chance for input.
For months residents and business owners in Tofte have been meeting with Andy Hubley and Michelle Pierson of the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC) to come up with a long-term document that will help guide the township into the future.
Hubley is the ARDC regional planning director and Pierson is the regional planning assistant.
On October 8 Hubley released the finished draft for public review and comment. A paper copy can be viewed at the town hall by calling Tofte Clerk Barb Gervais at 218-370-0763 and setting a viewing appointment.
The plan can also be viewed on Tofte’s website www.toftemn.com or at www.arrowheadplanning.org/toftecompplan.
With lots of input and ideas thrown into the mix, Hubley and Pierson whittled them down and broke them into categories highlighted in the 22-page summary.
It is expected the plan will help in township decisions regarding transportation, housing, cultural and natural resources, economic development, intergovernmental cooperation, utilities, and community facilities. Hubley also said it could be used to seek grants and funding by the township.
Any comments or questions about the plan should be directed to Andy Hubley by phone at 218-529-7512 or email him at ahubley@ardc.org.
All comments are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015.
Following the final public review and comment period, the plan will be presented to the town board for approval and adoption at the regular 7 p.m. meeting on November 12, 2015.
