With the completion of the Kimball Project Environmental Assessment (EA) the Forest Service is looking for public comment that it can possibly use to help steer the project.
The purpose of this undertaking includes creating new young age class and increasing long-lived conifers, and would create a more diverse ecosystem both in age and structure, as well as improve the forest health and resiliency while contributing to broader vegetation management goals.
To accomplish these goals prescribed burning, hazardous fuel reduction, harvesting trees and reforestation activities such as planting will be done. Harvesting timber will be followed by natural regeneration that would include any needed temporary road construction.
If the project goes forward the proposed action primary treatments would be expected to begin in the fall 2019 and last 10 years.
Comments that are specific to the project with supporting rationale are the most useful.
