It’s winter, and some call it the “Blue Season.” So why not make it blue? But in a positive way.
From January 24-31, folks in the Northland showed their support for front line workers by illuminating landmarks, houses, and businesses with blue lights.
Project Blue Light was a way to show appreciation to all of those people who have worked through the COVID- 19 pandemic. They include staff at hospitals, care centers, police, first responders, firefighters, grocery store workers, and more.
While some businesses drenched their buildings in blue light, some homeowners placed a single blue bulb in their front porch light. The tributes, large and small, were noted.
Driving the tribute to honor these dedicated people was the Arrowhead Regional Public and Tribal Health Departments. They include Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis County Public Health, Bois Forte, Fond Du Lac, Grand Portage and the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Public Health.
If you want to share a picture of your blue light(s) on social media, use the hashtag #thankyouwithblue.
