Thursday, May 5 is National Day of Prayer, a day set aside by presidential proclamation to pray for our country: families, schools, churches, law enforcement, community, state and national leaders, our military, and for revival in America and anything about which you wish to pray.
We are a nation that has been incredibly blessed by God. Our national motto is “In God We Trust,” our Pledge of Allegiance affirms we are “One Nation, Under God.” However, we are a nation that in many ways has forgotten God. We have endeavored to remove God from the public arena; we have removed the Ten Commandments from public display in our courthouses, government buildings, and school classrooms.
Now we have judges legislating from the bench, security guards and metal detectors in many schools because of mass murders, rape and violence against teachers and students, and concern for dangers to young children even playing in their own back yards and neighborhoods.
We desperately need God’s forgiveness, His healing of our hurting country, and spiritual revival across our nation. Come to pray on the Cook County Courthouse steps Thursday, May 5, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
In God We Trust,
Rae M. Piepho
