It is a dark and stormy night. Your power goes out. Who do you call?
At the request of Sheriff Mark Falk, please don’t call 911 as reported in last week’s Cook County News-Herald.
A service agreement between Arrowhead Electric Cooperative Inc. and the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office for after-hours dispatch services was approved by the county board on January 25. It states, “Arrowhead shall be responsible for…educating their members about using the phone lines during outages (particularly the 911 emergency service line).” That does not mean Arrowhead Electric customers should call 911, rather the opposite: Customers should not call 911 to report power outages.
Customers should call Arrowhead Electric’s regular phone number – 663-7239 – no matter when the outage occurs, day or night, weekday, weekend or holiday. Outside of business hours, calls to Arrowhead Electric will be routed to the Cook
County Law Enforcement
Center.
