Shivering and excited, more than 100 people took part in the Cook County Polar Plunge held on Wednesday, October 20 at the Cook County High School.

Polar Plunge events have been held across the state as a way to raise funds to support Special Olympics Minnesota. Plungers help Special Olympics Minnesota provide year-round training and services to thousands of athletes who have intellectual disabilities throughout Minnesota.

Instead of trooping down to Lake Superior and jumping into the frigid water this year the school brought in the Cool School Mobile Plunge and the event was held on campus with the chance for more people to participate.

If you didn’t have a chance to partake in the plunge you still have a chance to contribute by going to plungemn.org and find the Cook County Plunge site to donate. Proceeds will help fund the Cook County Unified Club, a chapter of Special Olympics Minnesota.
