Randy Hale will teach a plein air watercolor class at the Grand Marais Art Colony July 29-August 2.
Plein air painting provides a unique and immediate connection with your subject. But it also presents an overwhelming amount of detail…a sensory overload! Recognizing and applying what is seen while dealing with the distractions of rapidly changing light and shadow can teach painters how to plan and work quickly. Learn to make a dramatic statement in order to capture the emotion you want to communicate to the viewer by narrowing the focus and editing out what’s not important.
