Plein Air program wins Emmy Award





WDSE-WRPT of Duluth traveled to Grand Marais to film the 2011 Grand Marais Art Colony’s Plein Air “Quick Paint” competition on Artist’s Point. The result is The Brush Off, an exciting look at the Plein Air artists working as the clock ticks down. WDSE-WRPT won a Regional Emmy for the program.

Duluth Public Television’s WDSE-WRPT’s showcase for the arts has been recognized with a 2012 Midwest Regional Emmy Award for The Brush Off, created by The Playlist TV show in 2011.

The show highlights the annual quick paint competition hosted by the Grand Marais Art Colony on the shore of Lake Superior.

The special about this popular North Shore event was produced and edited by Steven Ash and Karen Sunderman, with WDSE-WRPT photographers Judy Morrissey and Ted Pellman, and production support from Nick Clingman and Jacob LeBeau.
