Playhouse offering previews of summer season

Have you ever wondered how all the magic backstage happens? Ever wanted to help create it?

Stop by Monday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts to find out more about all the areas of production for our summer performances. We need people to help assemble the set; paint and decorate it; hang and focus lights; create sound cues; create ghoulish makeup; style hair; build, find and alter costumes; and to act as backstage crew.

The production crew is an essential part of every show and they have fun doing it. Come check it out. Help a little, help a lot. You can schedule your own time.

The Playhouse will hold a special preview of the summer events on June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts with a suggested donation of $10. Come see scenes from the cheerfully macabre, terribly pleasing Arsenic and Old Lace and The Addams Family, which will run in repertory weekends July 21 – Aug. 14

The crazy cast members of the two plays that will be repertory this summer agreed to ham it up a bit. (L-R, standing) The Addams Family cast: Stage Manager Brenna Hay, Ron McClellan, Jane Healy, John Bragstad (behind), Robin Henrikson, Mark Abrahamson, Karen Blackburn, Karina Roth, Mike Roth, Amelia Roth, Jackson Nickolay, Abby Stoddard.

There will also be a preview of our Labor Day weekend events, back by popular demand! Mike and Julie Bateman who will return as Ole and Lena in Ole and Lena’s 50th Wedding Anniversary and Renewal of Vows. Plus, a special video performance from Monroe Crossing.

Following the show, the Playhouse will tempt you with a vast assortment of killer desserts. Maybe even some “Death by Chocolate.”

Tickets for all performances will be on sale for a 10 percent discount. If you buy a ticket to both Summer Festival shows you save $5 too.

We will also be celebrating the 45th anniversary of incorporation and the opening of the Playhouse’s 250th production. Wow!

The Playhouse has a full schedule for Labor Day weekend with two groups back by popular demand. On Thursday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m., Monroe Crossing returns to the ACA stage following their tour to South Korea. Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their airtight harmonies, razor sharp arrangements, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites across the United States and Canada.

On September 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, September 4 at 2 p.m., enjoy the hilarity of Ole and Lena as they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary!
