The Grand Marais Playhouse is in busy mode once again and we need your help.
We will begin adapting our summer set to the current production beginning Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. We will be creating all the scenes from the play from the beast’s home to the town tavern. We will also be making some magical special effects. Children must have an adult partner. Everyone must wear close-toed shoes and work clothes. Some projects can be done at your home. Stop by for details. Weekday evening hours are available too. Get creative with us.
We also need people to help with costumes and props for the production. Some costumes just need a fitting, some need to be creative. Some props need to be found; some need to be built.
We also need a light board, follow spot and sound operators for the performances. This is a great way for non-performing types to get involved in community theater. If you are interested in learning more about any area of production involved with a big musical, contact the Playhouse.
The spectacular, not-to-miss event of December is just around the corner – the Broadway Showcase and Curry Cook- Off is Dec. 17 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts.
We are still looking for people to sing. Contact the Playhouse through e-mail, website or phone. We are also working on two group numbers. If you want to be a part of those, let us know.
The Grand Marais membership meeting will be at 6 p.m. then dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. The Showcase begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for both and available online at grandmaraisplayhouse.com, or if you only want to come to one part, the food or the Showcase, tickets will be $10 available at the door only. This is a major event for the Playhouse, and it is a lot of fun and very tasty. We greatly appreciate your support to keep theater in our community and our schools.
If you cannot attend, please send your donation to the Playhouse at P.O Box 996, Grand Marais. Memberships will also be available.
Tickets for “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” are on sale now. Tickets make a great present. Buy online or call the Playhouse to send vouchers. Make it a family night out and enjoy the talent that lives right here.
