There is a hockey player Representative Stauber and the Republican party could learn from. His name is Robin Lehner. He played his heart out and when he and his team lost, he congratulated his opponents and thanked his supporters. He didn’t foment an uprising; he didn’t lie about what happened. It was a tough loss for believers, but it was fair, and it was free.
If you want to win you have to play a good game. If you bribe the refs or change the rules it looks kind of funny when checks to the head or brutal cross checks to the kidneys are ignored.
Right now, the Republican party isn’t focused on a good game, even a clean game is beyond the pale and the refs are being blinded or good old boys installed. The game was fair, but it won’t be if Representative Stauber and the Republican party at large has their say. You’ll be lucky if your goal counts even if you were onside.
