What timely opportunities our U.S. Congress has just taken to discuss providing for justice in our nation for two large groups of people: gays affected by the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,
and the immigrant children that would benefit by passage of the Dream Act.
These issues are promoted as hopefulness for those who wish for a better and different life for themselves.
But, also in this month, for another group, more injustice: Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) President Cecile Richards has produced an e-mail with information regarding PPFA’s “Choice on Earth” campaign, advertising “stocking stuffer gift certificates” to be used for PPFA services, including abortions.
I find this shameful as it mocks the real Christmas spirit of Peace on Earth at a time when many are celebrating the birth of a baby just over 2000 years ago, who, in Jesus Christ, came to give us life with an eternal future.
An abortion gift offer is of no kindness or generosity normally reflected at this time of year.
There are other options if you find yourself in an unwanted pregnancy, as there are also people willing to help deal with the later horrific situations found in the lives of those who have thought that an abortion was the only answer. In writing this letter, I am offering help to those who are also truly in need. I can help refer someone to seek the alternative that can more easily be lived with in the future.
