Buck’s Big Buck Contest is in full swing. The parking lot is busy, with orangeclad hunters bringing in their bucks to be measured and weighed. Prizes in the contest include a new rifle for the largest deer by dressed weight. Half of the prize money (from entry fees) goes to the largest antler spread and the other half of the prize money is given out in a drawing of all hunters entered. The contest started at the opening of rifle deer season and runs until November 20. Leading on Wednesday, November 9 in the largest antler spread category is Frankie Rabold of Grand Marais with this nice looking buck with a 23-inch antler spread.

Teri Smith of Grand Portage leads the Big Buck Contest in the largest dressed weight category with her 228-pound buck. The huge buck has beautiful antlers.
