Above: Carbine’s Fish Fry on McFarland Lake was the place to be on Saturday, March 5. Snowmobilers came from all over the county— the Cook County Ridge Riders started at Devil Track Landing and the Grand Portage Trail Riders traveled from the Grand Portage Lodge. Other people came by car, four-wheeler and plane! Peter and Dena Schliep of Grand Marais landed on the ice and a little while later, these two planes—a Piper Super Cub and an Aviat Husky arrived. The pilots are from Wisconsin. They heard about the Carbine’s fabulous fishcakes from friends on Devil Track Lake.
