Although it made driving treacherous, the recent freezing rain also created some wonderful photo opportunities. Don Davison of Grand Marais took his snow blower in for repair and stopped on the way home to capture ice portraits.
Above left: It’s not all ice this winter. Northlanders have been able to get out and play in the snow too. The trees along the trails look magical with their heavy coat of ice and snow. Above: It’s been great weather for bird watching too—this suet feeder at Hungry Jack Lake has been busy.
