Fire destroyed a house on 230 Devil Track Road last Saturday, July 1. Dispatch at the Cook County Law Enforcement Center was notified at approximately 11 p.m. that a house was fully engulfed in flames. Calls went out to the Maple Hill and Grand Marais fire departments who responded quickly but the house was too far gone to save.

One of the owners of the house, Kathleen Wallace, Woodbury, Minnesota, was notified by the Cook County Sheriff ’s office that the house had burned. Neighbors reported no suspicious activity in the area. The house was unoccupied during the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated by the State Fire Marshall.
