Highway 61 in downtown Grand Marais is undergoing a major transformation this summer. During the roadwork, construction crews are also replacing many of the city’s aging culverts to improve drainage. So far, the road crews have experienced nice weather and work from sunup to sundown.
Access to Highway 61 is shut down in certain places while crews work. It can get interesting at times, getting into and out of a business when major construction is taking place.
Moving earth and heaven itself at times, large pieces of heavy equipment work non-stop under the guidance of skilled operators.
