A group of middle school and high school kids were out picking up litter and cleaning up in town on Wednesday, November 7 as a way to serve the community and to make money for a planned 2020 trip abroad. North Shore Waste paid the students for their efforts and also paid for them to clean up around their home-based waste disposal site several days earlier. The kids are planning to spend nine days in Greece and three days in Switzerland, said Amanda Beal, who teaches English at I.S.D. 166. The trip will be conducted by Education First Tours. This effort is a beginning of much needed fundraising, said Beal, adding that North Shore Waste had given them a positive start on their way to earning enough money for the kids to take this (possibly) once in a lifetime, life changing trip.
