Marybeth Garmoe, who teaches classes at North House Folk School on occasion, was busy making brooms to sell at the Grand Marais Arts Festival. As long as there is dirt that gets dragged indoors, there will always be a need for a broom. Garmoe is a craftsperson who focuses on making traditional items for the home. Besides brooms, Garmoe handcrafts bowls, spoons and other items out of natural and locally harvested material. Staff photos/Laurie Johnson
