When it was their turn to play, Briand Morrison and Roxanne Berglund filled Grand Marais Harbor Park with music during the Grand Marais Arts Festival.
By day she is the mayor’s wife, but when the sun goes down, all the bad guys better beware because a helmeted Rose Arrowsmith Decoux is a super hero trying to correct the wrongs cast on the weak and defenseless. That’s the type of narrative Rose, a writer and artist, used to captivate these youngsters as she taught them how to create their own super hero comic strip at the arts festival.
Above left: One could get swept away by Grand Marais broom-maker Marybeth Garmoe’s artistic hand-made brooms that were on display and for sale at the fair. Above right: Daniel Hedblom of Rochester, Minnesota cuts copper to a workable size, shapes it, and then heats it to get the color displayed in his work. Finally he uses a dremel drill to make the trees or other designs in his work.
