Cook County Little League season is up and running, with some great baseball action on the field of play. Above, Katie Carpenter legs it out to first base as the first baseman awaits a throw that was jut a tad too late to catch the speedy Carpenter. Little League games are played on Sundays and Tuesdays, with the games usually starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Pappy Wright Little League field.
The Dodgers line up to high five Paul Dorr (on the left), who hit a home run.
Sliding hard, this base runner beat the throw to home plate while the catcher waited expectantly.
When Paul Dorr isn’t hitting home runs he’s making athletic plays in the field.
Above left: Wielding a big bat, Morgan Starkey got ready to slam the next pitch into the field of play. Middle: In his full wind up, Jacob Carpenter delivered a fastball to the batter for a strike. Right: Girls can’t pitch? Tell that to Ella Sporn. She may not be the next Ila Borders, the first woman to pitch in the minor leagues, but then again, who knows?
