This perfectly refurbished, polished gleaming bright red 1933 International firefighting rig was shipped via freight truck to Steve’s Sports in Grand Marais from Prescott, Arizona on Thursday, June 1. Hank Wamboldt of Prescott donated the truck to the Gunflint Trail Fire Department. Pictured driving the truck is Paul Kelnbereer, treasurer, and Jim Morrison, Gunflint fire chief. The two men drove the truck to Fire Hall 1, which is located mid-trail. On Sunday, June 11 the rig will be driven to Fire Hall No. 3, where it will be on display for the shrimp boil, a fundraiser for the Gunflint Trail Historical Society. The truck is loaded — literally — with all of the bells, axes, ladders, and lights it originally came with.
