Cold and wind couldn’t keep the marchers away. More than 40 people, many who belong to Arrowhead Indivisible, came out in support of International Women’s Day, Wednesday, March 8. The group gathered at noon at Harbor Park. Many wore red and several spoke about the value women add to our socio-economic system, while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment and job insecurity. While there were speeches, some women took the day off from paid and unpaid labor. Others avoided shopping for one day, with an exception for shopping at small, women and minority owned businesses. After meeting at Harbor Park the group marched from East Bay to Java Moose, “just to show solidarity with women’s rights around the world,” said Denny FitzPatrick.
