Don Hammer (a great name for a blacksmith) and Drew Johnson (right) heating a piece of metal over a smoky fire put on a great demonstration of blacksmithing at the newly restored Bally Blacksmith Shop. Demonstrations were put on daily during the Fisherman’s Picnic in what Cook County Historical Society Museum Director Carrie McHugh said was, “a sneak preview” of what is planned for the future of the blacksmith shop.
