A field of dreams? Younger children searched for bright plastic eggs filled with goodies in the Cook County Community Center hockey rink. This little girl seems a bit overwhelmed by the scene at the Kids Plus Easter Event on Saturday, April 4. The eggs didn’t last long once the preschoolers caught on.

A field of dreams? Younger children searched for bright plastic eggs filled with goodies in the Cook County Community Center hockey rink. This little girl seems a bit overwhelmed by the scene at the Kids Plus Easter Event on Saturday, April 4. The eggs didn’t last long once the preschoolers caught on.

Above: Older kids had more of a challenge to find eggs, but it didn’t take long for all 3,000 eggs to be found. Upper right: There were games and crafts, such as the “Make and Take” cookie table. More cookies were eaten on the spot than taken home. Lower right: Although most toddlers were too nervous to visit with the Easter Bunny, little Andrea Young loved the big bunny.

The Good Friday Community Cross Procession was well-attended by members of many community churches. The processional started and ended at St. John’s Catholic Church where Father Seamus Walsh gave a community Good Friday homily. Pastor Mark Ditmanson carries the cross from St. John’s to his congregation, Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
