There was a great turn-out for the Cook County ATV Club’s Tom Lake Ride & Shoot on Saturday, July 12. No, the group doesn’t ride four-wheelers while shooting. The club led members on a 48-mile ride and then riders gathered at the Portage Brook Pit in Hovland for target practice. The weather was perfect and an abundance of dragonflies kept the mosquitoes at bay.
Upper left: There was target practice of all types, including a slingshot for the kids. Lower left: Different areas were set up by the ATV Club for rifles, handguns and skeet shooting. Neil Hansen sights his antique .22 rifle. Above: The ride was a great mix of terrain–up hill and down; through maple forest, pine groves, and narrow winding places where the branches hang low; through some puddles; and on a couple of nice, straight gravel roads. There were several stops at scenic spots and much socializing.
