Above: Cook County was abuzz with Halloween activities last week. The 3rd and 4th grade Girl Scouts—Troops 4109 and 4070—had a good time decorating pumpkins and making matching fall placemats. Of course some Halloween candy was also enjoyed!
Right: The Birch Grove Community Center was filled with ghosts and goblins on Sunday, October 27 as kids of all ages gathered for a howling good time. Madysen McKeever won the jack-o-lantern contest with her Cookie Monster pumpkin. Madysen not only won the $50 first prize in the pumpkin contest, but she also volunteered at the event, as did many young Birch Grove School alumni. Helping out were Danielle Hansen, Hanna Borson, Alyssa Martinson, and Mikayla Schliep, as well as many parents, grandparents, school board members and community members. Birch Grove Community School Director Diane Blanchette said, “Happy Halloween to all that attended and volunteered their time to make the carnival a success!” And, she added a special thanks to Madysen for sharing the Cookie Monster’s cookies.
