Above: Tofte EMS Chief Louise Trachta was named the Tofte Citizen of the Year. When presented with a beautiful plaque, Trachta said she wouldn’t be able to do her job without the help of her hardworking EMS crew. She said thanks go to them. In addition to the plaque, Trachta got a ride in the parade. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor Louise!

The fourth of July parade in Grand Marais was small but colorful and followed the Grand Marais tradition of going around twice. Above left: This little parade-goer probably didn’t understand what was being celebrated, but she was decked out for the occasion anyway. Above middle: The fact that evening was falling didn’t stop this celebrant from wearing her patriotic sunglasses. Above right: Dan Helmerson of Grand Marais pedals the Tourist Information Center float down the street.
