The annual Lutsen September Bill W. Lake Trout Fishing Tournament picnic is held the third Sunday of September. This year’s event was September 16 at the Cathedral of the Pines. The lake trout for the “surf and turf” meal is provided by the contestants in the contest, which runs the previous two weeks. The length of the fish determines the tournament winners and trophies are awarded. This year the top three finishers were women. Dick Nelson, a contest organizer said, “None of the men were even in the running this year. It was all girl power!”
