Photo ID makes your vote count

A question on the voting ballot this November will be if we want to have, in our state constitution, an amendment to require a photo identification to vote. This amendment would require a photo ID to establish your identity, not your residence. That would, then, let your vote count.

For example, as it is now, if you cast your ballot for President Obama and an illegal alien, who cannot vote legally, cast her ballot for Mitt Romney, your vote would be canceled out, and you would be disenfranchised.

This amendment says that the state must issue a photo IDs for free to an eligible voter who does not have one. A provisional ballot may be cast if the voter does not have a photo ID. The ballot is then counted after the voter certifies it later on with a photo ID.

Please vote in November and vote yes for the photo ID amendment.

As an aside, all military personnel have photo ID. If they are in a hospital bed, they can vote by absentee ballot, as can others who cannot make it to the polls. Applications for absentee ballots verify who you are.
