With the warmer temperatures, Wood ducks are returning to the North Shore. Pictured above, the males have green crested heads with chestnut-colored breasts and other bold markings. The females are brown with a gray head that is slightly less crested than the heads of the males. Females also have dark blue on their wings. Wood ducks are among the most beautiful birds we see in the Northland.
